
Richard Kiehnel (11/1/1870-11/3/1944) Miami, Florida (F.A.I.A.)
Senior partner in the firm of Kiehnel & Elliott, in practice in Florida after the early 1920s. A native of Germany, he graduated in architecture at the University of Bresiau and a few months later sailed for America to begin his career in this country. Starting as a draftsman, he was employed for a time in the Chicago office of Egan & Prindeville, afterwards worked successively with Milton Dyer in Cleveland, and John M. Elliot in Pittsburgh, and practiced jointly withMr. Elliott over a persiod of ten years.
In 1920 Kiehnel % Elliott moved their offices to Miami, Florida, and during a period of twenty years or more, Mr. Kiehnel was active in planning various public and private buildings in that state. Among his best known works was the Scottish Rite Temple at Miami; the Annie Russel Theatre in Winter Park; and in St. Petersburg the Hotel Royal.
