Harrietta was built in 1797 by Mrs. Horry of Hampton for her daughter Harriott, who had married Frederick Rutledge. However, due to unforeseen circumstances it was never lived in until it came into the possession cf Stephen D. Doar in 1858. He repaired it, and three generations of his family had owned Harrietta until in 1930 it was sold to Horatio G. Shonnard, who made extensive repairs and restorations. With its raised basement and well-ventilated room arrangement, Harrietta Plantation house is a comfortable mix of Federal and Greek revival motifs adapted to the needs of a moderate and often humid locale. Later alterations to the structure and grounds have been carried out in a manner appropriate to early 19th-Century plantation dwellings.

The builder of Medway, -Tim Van Arrsens, died shortly after his arrival in Carolina. His widow, Sabina de Vignon, then married Thomas Smith who later became landgrave and then governor of Carolina. Smith became one of the greatest common ancestors of the Low Country through his first wife, for Sabina had no children. He is buried at Medway. A part of the building was destroyed in the earthquake of 1886, but was restored twenty years later. The Dutch style of Van Arrsens' architecture has been maintained through several additions and changes. Medway owes its planting of trees to two sisters. The larger oaks around the house were set out by Mrs, Theodore Marion Du Bose between 1825 and 1835 and Mrs.

The Roubieu-Jones House has also been known as the Reform Plantation, and the Carroll Jones House. The Roubieu-Jones House was, originally, a full-story raised Creole plantation house constructed of brick masonry on the ground floor, and with colombage framing filled in with bousillage on the principal level. The two-and-a-half-story building incorporated a Nonnan three-cell base module floor plan with a two rear cabinet rooms and a loggia. A large steeply pitched hipped roof extended eleven feet beyond the main floor's exterior wall creating a full-length gallery that was probably held up with five chamfered colonettes. The house was built around 1818 by Francois Roubieu who probably received the land as a gift or dowry after marrying the daughter of Julien Rachal.

About 1735 Noe Serre, grandson of a Huguenot emigrant, built a substantial plantation house on Wambaw Creek. This house passed to Daniel Kuger Horry when he married Judith, daughter of Noe Sorre. Horry squared the house by adding another pair of rooms on the second story and large extensions at each end. One of these is taken up by the large ballroom. For the sake of symmetry false windows have been used in the outside of these additions. About 1790, the deep portico was added, and George Washington was the first guest to pass through its tall colonade.

The original Biggin Church was probably completed ca. 1711, just five years after the parish of St. John's Berkeley was created. Saint John's Berkeley lost its first parish church by fire in 1755, and shortly thereafter, built another, massively of brick, on a fine point of Tippy Cutlow Hill looking over Biggin (or Biggon) Swamp. During the American Revolution, ammunitions were stored in the church by British troops who, upon leaving, set the church on fire. According to Dalcho, the church was repaired shortly thereafter.
