
E. Allan Sheet ((3/12/1898-12/19/1948) Los Angeles, California (A.I.A.)
Architect and Engineer, formerly associated in practice with Harry W. Hillier (Hillier & Sheet) with an office in the Story Building in Los Angeles. He was born in Philadelphia, and after his family moved to Cleveland attended the Shaw High School, later studied Engineering and Architecture at the Ohio Northwestern University.
At the age of twenty-one he arrived in California, and subsequently settled in Los Angeles. He worked as draftsman for a few years successively by Allison & Allison, Harry H. Whiteley, Donald Parkinson, and John Austin, and in 1924 was awarded his State Certificate to practice. During the years he was associated with Mr. Hillier, the firm planned a number of large hotels in the city, including Villa Italia, Crescent Heights Boulevard, Hollywood, a six-story structure with a basement garage; Hotel Kipling, 407 West Third Street (seven stories), and the Monarch Hotel, 906 West Fifth Street, a twelve-story structure with a basement garage.
In World War II, he served with distinction in the Army-Engineer Corps, and was promoted in rank from Captain to Major. Following his discharge in 1946 he resumed practice in Los Angeles with an office at 3757 Wilshire Boulevard.
