Architect H. William Kirchner



H. William Kirchner (1853-date of death unknown) St. Louis, Missouri (A.I.A.)

Born and educated in Baltimore, Maryland, he studied architecture in St. Louis in the office of George I. Barnett, later established practice for himself, and became one of the organizers of the St. Louis Chapter, A.I.A. Mr. Kirchner's largest and most important works in the city were the Cotton Exchange Building, built in 1883 at the south-west corner of Main and Walnut Streets (demolished 1940), and the Burlington Building, also he is said to have planned at least sixty schools in St. Louis. Other buildings he designed were Court Houses at Mora and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
