Architect Edward S. Hammat
Edward S. Hammat (1856-8/24/1907) Davenport, Iowa (F.A.I.A.)
Born at Geneseo, New York, the youth was educated in architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and continued his training during four years of draftsmanship in the office of Ware & Van Brunt. Later he worked in New York for some of the leading architects of that period. In 1883 Mr. Hammat moved to Davenport and in that city carried on professional practice until the time of his death, with his major works including churches, schools and other public buildings. In addition he was associated with L.G. Hallberg of New York in preparing plans for St. Augustine's College at Raleigh, North Carolina, completed in 1885.
