Albert L. Brockway (1864-6/25/1933) Syracuse, New York (F.A.I.A.)

In New York City during an early phase of his practice, Mr. Brockway accepted a position on the faculty of Syracuse University soon after the turn of the century. As Professor of Architecture he revised the prescribed course of study, following more closely methods of the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, where he had received his professional education.

Several years later, following his resignation from the University, Brockway established an architectural practice in Syracuse, ad during the 1920s maintained an office in the Third National Bank Building. A prominent figure in professional circles, he was a former member of the New York Chapter, A.I.A., and was elected Secretary in 1897 to succeed A.J. Bloor. The following year he was raised to Institute Fellowship. He was also a member and president of the National Council of Architects, and served on the New York State Architectural Board of Registration. During later years in Syracuse he was a member and one time president of the local Architects' Society.
