The home of an early prominent New Bedford Quaker merchant, one of the oldest remaining in the city; now a local landmark. Not to be confused with the Rotch-Jones-Duff House, now a museum, which was built later. The sign in the photo indicates it was built in 1787, but this does not appear to be correct. The house was being used as a rooming house at the time this photo was taken.
This house was moved about 200 feet from its original site in 1850.
